The following list highlights most of the 2009-10 events which require volunteers. This is a terrific way to be involved with your kids’ activities, make better acquaintance with other parents, and help out a wonderful cause.   A volunteer form is provided on the Forms page of this site, or feel free to contact Cathy Harms (see the About Us page for Cathy’s email info).

Band Booster Committee positions opening -- a great way to get involved and positively impact your child’s band experiences!

Band Booster committee members serve in two-year terms.  Some roles are ’solo’, while others consist of two people: a new person who assists while being mentored in that role, and an incumbent who leads and mentors.  Therefore some positions are opening this year; come join us -- get involved and make a difference!  Contact Cathy at the email address above for more information.

Co-President - responsible for oversight of Band Booster direction, ensuring activities are monitored, running 3-4 meetings per year, etc.

Treasurer - responsible for monitoring cash flow, paying bills, and projecting/advising on financial position of the organization.  

Fundraiser Co-Chair - The primary responsibility is to set up General Account and Student Account fundraising opportunities.  In the past we have done grocery bagging, pancake breakfasts, “AVHS Band Day” at local restaurants, and Brat Sale at football games, for example.  Typically coordination of the actual event is handled by parent volunteers, so the focus of this position is to manage the details involved with getting the event initiated.

Co-Student Accounts Treasure - the Student Accounts treasurer manages funds -- earned by individual students -- separately from the General Account funds.  Works with Fundraiser chair to ensure students are accurately credited for their efforts.

Bake Sale March 14th -- EVERYONE’S PARTICIPATION IS REQUESTED - Bring some baked goodies to AVHS on March 14th!  That’s the date of the annual Panorama of Bands.   With bands participating from around the district, attendance is always high. We’re asking all AVHS band families to bring something to the bake sale for this great fundraising opportunity.   It’s simple, easy, and sure beats door-to-door fundraising, right? 

Program Ads - Hopefully you noticed an insert in the Band Concert program Jan. 28 (Hint: Nature Valley Foods).   The Band Booster sees this as strategically important direction, given the state of the economy and recent budget cuts to the school district.  Well that first ad has generated interest from local businesses.    Band Boosters seeks someone to follow-up on those leads and to participate with an upcoming campaign to generate more interest! We seek someone who likes to be out and about and meet with business owners, or who otherwise can help us make a few calls.

Spring Awards banquet - Annually, after the last concert, we celebrate the passing of another year of musical achievement by all band members.   and recognize the graduating seniors. We’re looking for parent volunteers to help serve ice cream and punch.
